AUSTINTOWN-Services will be Thursday at 11:00 AM at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel for Edward J. Wells Sr. age 67 of Austintown who passed away early Monday morning at his home after a one year battle with cancer.
Ed was born April 25, 1938, in Struthers, Ohio, and was a graduate of Chaney High School. He was veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps serving in Okanowa. He had worked in the office of Youngstown Steel Door for over eighteen years, and later retired after ten years from the Pittsburgh Tube Corp. in 2001. He also worked as a driving instructor for A-1 Driving School for more than eighteen years. Ed was a member of the Youngstown Rifle and Pistol Club, the Eastern Ohio Conservation Club, the NRA, and the Lordstown Barnstormers remote control airplane club.
He is survived by his wife the former Jeannie Hewitt whom he married in 1985, his father Edgar Davis of Austintown, a daughter Wendy Carpenter of Columbus, two step daughters, Kathleen Dave Jones of Canfield, and Kelli Jay Rago of Lake Milton, a son Edward J. Wells Jr. of Columbus, a step son Kenneth Rhea Hewitt of North Jackson, a brother Ronald Sandy Wells of Missouri, and thirteen grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother Ruth Davis, and a sister, Luella Horvath.
Friends may call from 5 PM to 8 PM Wednesday evening at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel.
