BOARDMAN- Services will be Friday at 9:30 AM at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Boardman-Canfield Chapel, and at 10:00 AM at St. Christine Church for Elaine Morton age 78 formerly of Lockwood Blvd., and Westlake, Ohio who passed away Monday evening at Boardman Community Care Center. Elaine was born November 23, 1928 in Youngstown, the daughter of Walter D. and Alice Cregan Mahoney. After graduating from Ursuline High School, Elaine had worked at Truscon Steel, and later was the owner/operator of the Favorite Hostess Shop in the Boardman Plaza from 1951 to 1989. During that time she had also worked as an independent sales representative for the M.W. Carr company for over 20 yrs. She had also worked and retired from CVS Drug stores in Cleveland. She was a member of St. Christine Church and a member of its choir. She was a former member of St. Latislas Church in Westlake, a member of Quota Club, and the Ursuline High School Alumni.
Her husband John Clair Morton whom she married April 30, 1955, died December 30, 1999. She is survived by three sisters, Mary and her husband Francis Hurley of Boardman, Catherine Guerriero of Boardman, and Jane Mahoney of Boardman, a sister in law, Elaine Mahoney of Lyndhurst, Ohio, five nieces and eleven nephews. Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter, and James A. Mahoney.
Friends may call from 4 PM to 7 PM Thursday at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Boardman-Canfield Chapel.
The family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to either the Alziehmers Assoc. or the St. Christine Church Building fund in Elaine's memory.
