Eleanor Varga

June 10, 1930 — February 9, 2010

YOUNGSTOWN - There will be a Memorial Mass on Friday at 1 p.m. at St. Christine's Church in Youngstown for Eleanor B. Varga, 79, who passed away Tuesday morning, Feb. 9, 2010, at Mahoning Valley Hospital in Boardman.

Eleanor was born June 10, 1930 in Youngstown, the daughter of Michael and Apolonia Rosko Bertko.

She was a Chaney High School graduate and a member of St. Christine's Church.

She was employed at the General Electric Mazda Plant in Youngstown, prior to raising her family. She retired as Office Manager from K-Mart in Austintown in 1993.

Her husband, Frank Varga, whom she married Jan. 23, 1955, passed away April 5, 1985.

Mrs. Varga leaves two sons, Mark S. Laura Varga of Canfield and Christopher F. Barbara Varga of Boardman; and a daughter, Michele M. Zatchok of Youngstown. She also leaves nine grandchildren, Aubree Varga, Nicholas Varga, Bailey Varga, and Kyle Varga of Canfield, Samuel Varga and Sarah Varga of Boardman, Thomas McDonald and Michael McDonald of Austintown and Caitlin McDonald of Youngstown; several nephews and nieces, especially Margaret Ann Layshock; and a very special friend, Geri Herman.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; her in-laws, John and Helen Varga; her brothers, Andrew G., George E., Michael, John J. and Joseph G. Bertko; and a sister, Margaret M. Layshock.

Family and friends may gather at the church one hour prior to Mass from noon to 1 p.m.

Professional arrangements are being handled by the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
