Elizabeth Conroy

MINERAL RIDGE - A memorial Mass will be held Saturday, May 6, 2017, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mineral Ridge, for Elizabeth "Betty" Conroy, 65, who died late Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at the Cleveland Clinic, surrounded in love by her family.

Betty was born Jan. 19, 1952, in Salem, the daughter of Carl and Jean (Scullion) Sobotka.

She was a 1970 graduate of Salem High School. She worked for Kohl's Department Store in customer service for 20 years until retiring in October of 2016.

Betty was a member of St. Mary's Church in Mineral Ridge. She enjoyed golfing, reading, vacationing in Florida and traveling with her family.

Betty's greatest joy was her family, especially her two grandsons who she watched daily when they were little and who she always supported by attending many sports events, Boy Scout ceremonies, drama productions and virtually all activities in which they participate.

Betty is survived by her husband, Richard Conroy, whom she married Nov. 23, 1984; her daughter Mary (Brian) Swantek of New Middletown; three brothers, Larry (Karen) Sobotka of Pataskala, Edward (Kathy) Sobotka of Salem and Don (Vera) Sobotka of Salem; two grandsons, Brian Swantek, who is serving in the U.S. Army at Fort Gordon, Ga., and Zachary Swantek, who is a junior at Springfield Local High School; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Janet Gbur.

Family and friends may call at St. Mary's Church prior to the service, beginning at 9 a.m.

Her family is extremely thankful to the many doctors, nurses and staff at both St. Elizabeth Health Center and of the Cleveland Clinic for their wonderful care of Betty.

The family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to St. Mary's Men's Club or Women's Guild, 3504 Main St., Mineral Ridge, OH 44440.
