AUSTINTOWN - Prayers will begin Friday at 9:30 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church for Elizabeth C. "Dolly" McAndrew, 86, who died Monday evening at Canfield Place Nursing Home surrounded by her family.
Dolly was born Nov. 12, 1931, in Youngstown, the daughter of Anthony and Jennie (Corso) Angelo.
She was a graduate of East High School. After Dolly raised her children, she worked part time at the Youngstown State University Bookstore as a cashier.
Dolly was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society.
She was also a member of the Thursday Women's Bowling League at Wedgewood Lanes and two card clubs. While her sons were in school, Dolly was very active in the Fitch Football Mom's Club.
Dolly's husband, John T. "Jack" McAndrew, whom she married Sept. 15, 1951, died May 13, 2015.
She is survived by two daughters, Karen (Brian) Biggs of Austintown and Linda Droege of Columbus; three sons, John P. McAndrew of Austintown, Tony McAndrew of California and Bill (Ida) McAndrew of Columbus; sister Jane Roman of Austintown; sister-in-law, JoAnn Angelo of Boardman; and four grandchildren, Nina Droege (Fiance Chris Taneyhill) Sarah McAndrew, Jennie McAndrew and Jessie McAndrew.
Dolly was also preceded in death by her parents; sister Jennifer Angelo; brother Jerry Angelo; and son-in-law John Droege.
Family and friends may call Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Dolly's family would like to thank the staff at Canfield Place for the excellent care and compassion given during her stay.
They have asked that material tributes take the form of donations to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St. Boardman, OH 44512.
