Elizabeth Siman

AUSTINTOWN - Prayers will be held Thursday at 9:15 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Dominic Church for Elizabeth "Betty" E. Fickers Siman, 97, passed away Monday at Humility House.

Betty was born Aug. 26, 1917 in Pittsburgh, and came to the area in 1948. She was a daughter of the late Alfred and Anna (Litz) Sigmund.

Betty was a manager of Strouss Bakery for 19 years and retired in 1973. She was a member of St. Dominic Church and their Altar and Rosary Society, Infant Jesus of Prague and Over 55 Club.

Betty leaves her daughters, Carole Sammarco of Boardman, Patricia Atkatsh of Boardman, and Mary Beth (Jay) Gardner of Boardman; two sons, Edward B. Fickers of Chicago and Paul F. Fickers of Akron; stepdaughter Virginia Wetherby of LaCresanta, Calif.; 19 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters.

Betty was preceded in death by her first husband, Edward Fickers, whom she married Aug. 25, 1936, and who passed away Jan. 29, 1956; her second husband, George Siman, whom she married Sept. 1, 1962, and who passed away April 18, 1983; a stepson, George Siman; two sisters; and two brothers.

Family and friends will pay their respects Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery.
