Ellen Bentfeld

WESTERVILLE - Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel, for Ellen C. Bentfeld, 101, formerly of Canfield, who died peacefully Tuesday at New Albany Care Center surrounded by her family.

Ellen was born July 1, 1917, in Youngstown, the daughter of Henry and Mary (Hendry) Brandmiller.

She was a graduate of Boardman High School and attended Kent State University. Ellen was a longtime member of the Disciples Christian Church before moving to Columbus to be closer to her family.

Ellen’s husband, Richard T. Bentfeld, whom she married June 17, 1939, died Nov. 22, 1985.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ellen Millhone of Westerville; granddaughter Sue Ellen (Christopher) Abbott; and several nieces and nephews.

Ellen was also preceded in death by her parents and son-in-law, Dean Millhone.

Family and friends may call Saturday from 10:30 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will take place at Greenhaven Memorial Gardens.

The family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to a charity of the donor’s choice.
