YOUNGSTOWN - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church for Elvira "Babe" Tareshawty, 86, who died peacefully, early Sunday morning at home, surrounded by her family.
Babe was born Aug. 15, 1928, in Belaire, to Andrew and Rita (Partezana) Paige.
She was a graduate of The Rayen School and began working as a court reporter and legal secretary. After quitting to raise her children, she returned to work as a secretary for McKay Machine and Wean United. She went on to receive a real estate license, that she kept active for years, and continued to further her career by studying and becoming certified as a Paralegal. She worked for several years in the prosecutor's office, until her retirement.
Babe volunteered her time and skills working for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and Preservation of Mill Creek Park.
Babe was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. She was fun-loving, enjoyed traveling, dancing and music, but most of all, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters, Cynthia Tareshawty of Youngstown and Kathy Jo (Michael) Santisi of Youngstown; a sister, Louise DiMargio of Canfield; a brother, Doug (Heidi) Jones of Austintown; and three grandchildren, Anna Paige, Salvatore and Sophia Jean Santisi.
Babe was also preceded in death by her parents; an infant sister, Gloria Jean Paige; and a brother-in-law, Nick DiMargio.
Family and friends may call Tuesday for one hour prior to the Mass at the church.
The family would like to thank the staff at MVI Hospice and Babe's caregiver and friend, Patti Luoma, for the exceptional care and compassion given to their mother.
Professional arrangements are being handled by the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel.
