AUSTINTOWN - Prayers will begin Saturday at 9:30 AM at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Church in Austintown for Emilio L. Marsilio age 77 who passed away Tuesday evening at the Hospice House after a courageous battle with cancer.
Emilio was born September 1, 1931 in Bugnara L'Aquila, Italy, the son of Vittorino and Mary DiTommaso Marsilio, coming to America and settling in Girard in 1933.
After graduating from Girard High School in 1949 he served in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War, and later earned his Bachelors degree from Youngstown College. He was proud to have worked with the same company during his 46 year long railroad carreer which began at the former Erie Lackawanna R.R. where he worked in varrious positions including management positions in Youngstown and Cleveland before retiring from Conrail R.R. in 1993. Mr. Marsilio was always active in his union and had held various positions including becoming the General Chairman of the Brotherhood of Railway Carmen's Eastern Division. He was a member of St. Joseph Church, the Mineral Ridge VFW Post, was an avid bowler and enjoyed reading and gardening.
He is survived by his wife the former Nina Felice whom he married September 7, 1957, his mother Mary Marsilio of Austintown, two daughters; Amy A. Marsilio and Jo Marie Marsilio both of Austintown, a son Jerry Mary Marsilio of Chicago, Illinois, a grand-daughter Angela Zack Cain, a sister, Angelina Neil Frasca of Austintown, and a brother Henry Joan Marsilio of Boardman.
He was preceded in death by his father Vittorino Marsilio.
