POLAND - Funeral services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, for Emma H. Gething, 92, who passed away Tuesday morning at Hospice House.
Emma was born Dec. 3, 1922, in Girard, a daughter of the late Philip E. and Delnora (Fletcher) Williams.
Emma graduated from Girard High School in 1941. She married the love of her life, her high school sweetheart, Jay M. Gething, on Aug. 31, 1946, at the Girard First Baptist Church by the Rev. James Fisher. They were married 52 years and he passed away Nov. 24, 1998.
They lived in Girard for 10 years, then moved to Mona Lane in Youngstown for almost 49 years. She was a member of the West Side Baptist Church for 45 years. Emma then moved back to Girard in 2005.
Emma was a member of "The Girl's Club" of Girard for over 70 years, a lifetime charter member of World War II National Memorial, and the Girard Senior Citizens. She was Mother of the Year from 1998 to 1999 at the West Side Baptist Church. She worked as an aide on the children's floor at South Side Hospital and was cashier at Mahoning Avenue Sparkle Market. Emma really enjoyed all of her wonderful children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-granddaughter.
She leaves three wonderful daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy (Dennis) Kalic of Hubbard, Darlene (Daniel) Piluga of North Jackson, and Donna (Thomas) Warga of North Jackson; a wonderful son and daughter-in-law, Terry (Gail) Gething of Mesa, Ariz.; five grandsons, Sean (Tracie) Kalic of Weston, Mo., Jon (Jolee) Kalic of Cleveland, Todd (Brandy) Piluga of Mesa, Ariz., James (Kelley) Warga of Girard, and Joe (Randee) Warga of Howland; four granddaughters, Bobbie Jo (Ray) Pagan of Youngstown, Mandy (Gary) Lundstom of Warren, Heather (Matt) Lassuy of San Tan Valley, Ariz., and Morgan Jae Gething of San Tan Valley, Ariz.; 11 great-grandchildren, Kenneth (fianceé Katie) Pilger, Brodi and Milan Piluga of Mesa, Ariz., Emma Jaye Sempek of Youngstown, Cameron and Jillian Kalic of Cleveland, Katheryn Kalic of Weston, Aidan and Joselyn Warga of Girard, Gary, Alex, Alyssa, and Anthony Jay Lundstom of Warren, and Patricia Lassuy of San Tan Valley, Ariz., Quinton Warga, Randee Jean and Daryn Hinton all of Howland; a great-great-granddaughter, Zoey Pilger of Mesa, Ariz.; two sisters, Ruth Dellarco of Florida and Pearl Popp of McKinley Heights; a brother and sister-in-law, Henry (Joann) Williams of Florida; and many wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Emma was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Jane Thomas.
Family and friends may call Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will take place at the Green Haven Memorial Gardens.
