POLAND-Services will be Thursday evening at 7:00 PM at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel for Ernest A. Enoch age 87 of Poland who passed away early Monday morning at Shepherd of the Valley in Boardman.
Ernest was born September 29, 1918, in Clarksburg, WV the son of Emmett and Prudence Baumgardner Enoch.
Before moving to the Youngstown area in 1976 Ernest was the laundry manager at Columbia Hospital Systems in Pittsburgh, PA, and later retired as the laundry manager from Youngstown Northside Hospital in 1983. He had served in the Army during W.W.II, was a member of the Brownlee Woods Presbyterian Church, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge # 24 in West Virginia. Ernest was an avid genealogist who had traced his family lineage back to 1693. Mr. Enoch was awarded the Silver Beaver Award, the highest award in scouting, by the Boy Scouts of America for his many years of service as a Boy Scout Leader.
Mr. Enoch is survived by a daughter Norma Roudebush of Youngstown, two sisters, Edna June Carlton Osbourn of Enterprise, WV, and Evelyn Pethel of Worthington, WV, three grandchildren Cheryl John Powers of Tucson, AZ, Stephanie Chris Burch, and David Roudebush all of Jacksonville, FLA., two great-grandchildren, Caitlin, and Nathan Powers, and numerous cousins and nieces and nephews.
His wife the former Thelma Bice whom he married February 2, 1942, died April 29, 2006.
He was also preceded in death by a sister Emna Enoch, and two brothers, Erroll "Ike" Enoch, and Ellis "Bud" Enoch.
Friends may call Thursday from 5:00 PM to 6:45 PM at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel
Burial will take place Saturday in the Shinnsten Masonic Cemetery, Shinnston, WV.
