Estelle Ochman
Youngstown- A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10AM Thursday in St. Brendan Church and prayers offered at 9:30AM in the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel for Estelle Ochman, age 87, of Youngstown, who died Monday afternoon at the Hospice House after a courageous battle with cancer.
Estelle was born April 17, 1921 in Youngstown to the late John Joseph and Mary Lucy Hizney Stanislaw.
She was a 1939 graduate of Ursuline High School. A member of St. Brendan's Church where she was a member of the Altar & Rosary Society, the church Choir, and the 60+ Club. She has also volunteered at Forum Health for many years; she was a Grey Lady with the Red Cross and was a Boy Scout Den Mother and a Troop Leader with the Brownies.
Estelle loved Bingo and playing cards, she truly cherished her grandchildren and friends.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband Stephen M. Ochman, whom she married November 27, 1940 and died March 12, 1981. She is also preceded by a daughter Ruth Humenny; her sisters, Sister Marie Geraldine, OSU, Sister Marie Celeste, OSU, and Margaret Peskor; and five brothers, John, Michael, Anthony, Joseph, and Emil Stanislaw.
She is survived by her daughter, Joan Ochman of Columbus, and her son Stephen Dawn Ochman of Howland, son-in-law William Humenny of Hubbard and a sister Mary Chaky of Hubbard. Her beloved grandchildren, Megan and Melissa Humenny, Brendan Solarz, and Andrew and Alexandra Ochman.
Friends may call TodayWednesday 4-7PM and one hour prior to prayers 8:30-9:30AM Thursday at the funeral home. Altar Rosary Society prayer service at 3:45PM Wednesday.
Burial in Calvary Cemetery.
