Mrs. Esther Wigham Beynon, born November 6, 1910, passed away peacefully at Assumption Village on March 19, 2005.
Mrs. Beynon?s parents were Edwin and Margaret Wigham. Her two sisters, Katherine Pate and Margaret Barker, preceded her in death. A half-brother, John Wigham Esq., lives in Wooster, Ohio.
Mrs. Beynon spent almost her entire life in the Youngstown area. She married Alvin W. Beynon on September 4, 1935. Mr. Beynon, after retiring from the Prudential Insurance Company, died January 6, 1973. They had one child, Alvin W. Beynon, who lives in Canfield with his wife, Elaine.
Mrs. Beynon graduated from South High School in 1929. She spent her junior year at Penn Hall, a private finishing school in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. She served as Registrar of the Lake to River Girl Scout Office for 28 years, retiring in 1980.
A lifelong member of Trinity Methodist Church, she belonged to the Wesleyan Circle, the Quilters Club, and the church?s Food Service. She was a fifty-year member of Chi Epsilon, a federated women?s club, including serving as President for two years She was also an active RSVP volunteer at Southside Hospital for over 20 years. She also volunteered at Sheldon Jackson College in Sitka, Alaska. An avid Bridge player, she was active in several Bridge and supper clubs throughout her life.
In addition to her son and his wife, she leaves three grandchildren: Kenneth Katherina Beynon of Powell, Ohio, Pastor Daniel Christina Beynon of Weatherford, Texas, and Betsy Todd Caudill of Boardman, and six great grandchildren. She also leaves a nephew, Richard Barker of San Diego, California, and a niece, Jane Casey of Worthington, Ohio.
Calling hours will be from 5:00 to 7:00pm on Monday, March 21st at the Higgins-Reardon Boardman-Canfield Chapel, with funeral services March 22nd at 1:00 at the funeral home.
