STRUTHERS - Ethel Rose Forsyth Gerlach was reunited with her husband, Robert Paul, on Aug. 13, 2017.
She was born in Youngstown on May 1, 1920, the eighth of nine children.
Ethel was a caregiver to many, a friend to all and a wonderful mother to her daughter, Diane (Gerlach Parsons) Siefert.
Ethel and "Bob" enjoyed 71 years of marriage, living and exploring together. They traveled all 48 continental United States and wintered in Everglades City, Fla., where they relished sunshine, fishing and making new friends.
Ethel dedicated her life to helping others and creating a safe, warm home, filled with the smells of home baked bread and fabulous cooking. Her adages and words of wisdom taught kindness, truthfulness, tolerance and patience.
Left to cherish fond memories, but rejoice in her peace are her daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Nevin Siefert of Struthers; her grandchildren, Tracey Parsons (Roger) Estep of Toledo, Dana Parsons (Tony) Rich of Boston and Nevin (fiancée Nicole Troche) Siefert II of Spring Hill, Fla.
Ethel also holds a special place in the hearts of her 10 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Margaret (Brown) Forsyth; her four brothers, Charles B., James E., Sydney F., and Thomas C. Forsyth; and her four sisters, Margaret F. Griffith, Francis B. Traynor, Virginia R. Forsyth and Irma M. Forsyth.
The family extends a sincere thank you to the kind and compassionate staffs of Grace Hospice and Salem Essex II for their caring ways.
Last respects can be shared at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel, 2726 Center Road (Rt. 224) on Wednesday from 1 to 2 p.m., with a service immediately following.
