Eugene Muldowney

February 28, 1933 — November 12, 2011

DIAMOND - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Lake Milton, for Eugene L. Muldowney, 78, who died Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011, at his home surrounded by his family.

Gene was born Feb. 28, 1933, in St. Clair, Pa., the son of John J. and Catherine P. Grace Muldowney.

He was a graduate of St. Mary's High School in St. Clair and later served in the Army during the Korean War. He was a graduate of the Pennsylvania State Capital Police Institute and had served as an officer in Harrisburg, Pa. and later in New Jersey. He then moved to Diamond to accept a position at the General Motors Lordstown Assembly plant, retiring as an inspector.

He was a member of St. Catherine Church in Lake Milton and was a lifelong Notre Dame fan. Gene was a former member and Grand Knight of the Newton Falls Knights of Columbus and later was a member of the Rootstown Knights of Columbus.

He will always be remembered as a dedicated father and loving husband to his wife and children.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, the former Carol Thompson, whom he married Aug. 25, 1962, at St. Patrick Cathedral in Harrisburg, Pa.; six children, Eugene Lisa Muldowney, Shawn Devonne Muldowney, Michael Jennifer Muldowney, Catherine Clayton Gellatly, June Anne Keith Fischer and Rebecca Muldowney; and 19 grandchildren.

Friends may call Wednesday morning from 9 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. at St. Catherine Church in Lake Milton.

To honor Gene, the family request "the Wearing of Green" to honor his Irish heritage.
