BOARDMAN - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m. at St. Charles Church for Florence Ida Dubos, 81, formerly of Struthers, who died Wednesday evening at Forum Northside Medical Center.
Florence was born Sept. 11, 1928 in Youngstown, the daughter of Pasquale and Ida Fossecca Dippolito.
She was a 1946 graduate of East High School and had been a frequent soloist at area weddings in the 1950s and 60s.
In 1968, she became the first bookkeeper for the Mahoning County Headstart Program, where she worked for over 22 years, before her retirement in 1990.
She was a member of St. Charles Church and a former member of St. Nicholas Church.
She enjoyed playing cards with her lifelong friends from her card club, and taking an occasional trip to Mountaineer.
Her husband, William J. Dubos, whom she married Sept. 18, 1948, died in 1998.
She is survived by her daughter, Renee Phil Battafrano of Boardman; a son, Peter Bunny Dubos of Tarpin Springs, Fla.; and a granddaughter, Danielle Battafrano.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Toban and a brother, Pasquale Dippolito.
Friends may call from 9 to 10:15 a.m. Saturday morning at St. Charles Church.
The family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to the Alzheimer's Association, 3695 Boardman-Canfield Road, Boardman, OH 44512 or the donor's favorite charity in Florence's memory.
