YOUNGSTOWN - Prayers will begin Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Church, for Florence L. "Honey" Minenok, 88, who died early Friday morning at Vibra Hospital.
Florence was born Jan. 25, 1928, in Youngstown, the daughter of Louis and Rose Traficant Salvatore.
She was a 1947 graduate of South High School. Florence worked as a switchboard operator at Ohio Bell and later at Jones Hall of Youngstown College.
She had been a member of St. Christine Church and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica in Youngstown.
While raising her family, she was very active in her children's school activities. She also enjoyed dancing. Florence will be remembered as an avid gardener with beautiful flower beds and her delicious cooking, which she shared with anyone who sat at their table.
Florence's husband Frank T. Minenok, whom she married Nov. 27, 1948, proceeded her in death Nov. 24, 2013.
She is survived by four daughters, Judith (David) Brownstein of Buffalo, N.Y., Jane Minenok of Austintown, Joan Yanchick of New Middletown and Joy Minenok of Boardman; two sons, Russell (Deborah) Minenok of Boardman and Patrick (Roberta) Minenok of New Castle, Pa.; a daughter-in-law, Carol Minenok of Austintown; 19 grandchildren, Carrie, Frankie, Hayley, Michael, Erin, Tamara, Kate, Natalie, Russell, Ashley, Sabrina, Taylor, Matthew, Michael, Lauren, Patrick, Daniel, Ava and Luke; and five great -grandchildren, Tommy, Dominic, Nicholas, Mia and Sadie.
Besides her husband, she was proceeded in death by a son, Frank Minenok Jr.; and a son- in law, John Yanchick.
Besides being a people lover, Florence was an animal lover as well, St. Francis was proud of her as she rescued or adopted her cats, Rocky, Miss Kiddy, Pepper, Tommy and Sassy.
Calling hours will be today from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel.
