Florence Roncone

BOARDMAN - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 6 p.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church for Florence C. Roncone, 90, who died unexpectedly at her home on Friday.

Born on Dec. 15, 1920, in Pacentro, Italy, to John and Philomena Mariani D'Alesandro, Florence and her mother, immigrated to the United States in 1921, to join her father who settled and worked in Campbell.

She attended Sacred Heart School.

Florence married Pasquale Roncone on Sept. 11, 1937. They were the parents of two sons, Patrick and John E. Jack Roncone.

Florence was employed for 33 years as a sales associate at Strouss and later at Dillard's Department Stores, both in Boardman.

She was a former member of St. Dominic Church, and a member of St. Charles Church and its Ladies Guild. She was a founding member and a former president of the Woman's Auxiliary of the Pacentrano Club. She was very devoted to her Catholic faith and Italian heritage.

Florence leaves her son, Patrick of Columbus and her grandchildren, Dr. David Angela Roncone of Canfield, Dr. John Rachel Roncone of North Canton, Carrie Jerry Velasquez of Poland, Sharon Kevin Velasquez of Canfield and Edward Roncone of Siene, France. Florence also leaves her brother, Ronald Marisa D'Alesandro of Canfield; sisters, Eileen Anthony Volpini of Poland and Edith Ranalli of Sarasota, Fla.; sister-in-law, Betty D'Alesandro of Youngstown; and her daughter-in-law, Carol Roncone of Salem.

Florence leaves eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death are her husband, Pasquale; son, John E. Jack Roncone; and her brothers, Arthur, Eugene and John D'Alesandro.

Friends may call Thursday from 5 to 5:45 p.m. at St. Charles Church.

Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the KSU Foundation - The John E. Roncone Scholarship Fund, Kent State University, Attn: Matthew Butts, 2491 state Route 45, Salem, OH 44460.
