Austintown- A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM Friday, October 17th at The Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, and prayers offered at 10 AM in the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel for Frances Martin, age 92, of Austintown, who died Monday evening at the Briarfield at Ashley Circle surrounded by her family.
Frances was born March 9, 1916 in Youngstown to the late Joseph and Mary Brandobur Vitikas.
She was a graduate of Holy Name of Jesus Grade School and a 1934 graduate of Chaney High School.
Frances retired as the Accounting Supervisor at Stambaugh-Thompson with 23 years of service.
She was a founding member of the Austintown Historical Society, serving on the board for many years. She was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Altar and Rosary Society, and the Senior Citizens. She was also involved with the Mahoning Valley Stamp Club.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by three sisters, Helen Vitikas, Mary Labuda, and Sister Mary Alberta V.S.C., and a brother Joe Vitikas.
She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Sam Luse of Arizona, two sons Leonard E. Joyce Martin of North Jackson, and Joseph R. Linda Martin of Youngstown. six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren; three brothers, Frank Edna Vitikas of Austintown, Stephen Mary Vitikas of Tuscon, Arizona and Edward Joyce Vitikas of Ellsworth.
Friends may call Thursday from 5-8 PM at the funeral home.
Burial in Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that material donations to the Immaculate Heart od Mary Building Fund or to the Austintown Historical Society.
