AUSTINTOWN - Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel for Frances M. Minehart, 92, who passed away Wednesday evening at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Frances was born Feb. 9, 1917 in Warren, Pa., the daughter of Thomas J. and Mattie Mae Beebe Farr and came to this area in the 1940s.
Frances was a waitress at the Colonial House and worked for Carnegie Steel U.S. Steel in the early 1940s. She then worked in sales/retail at Strouss Downtown for 14 years, retiring in 1982. Frances was a member of the Austintown Community Church. She enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Wedgewood "Try Hard" League.
Her husband, Frank W. Minehart, whom she married Dec. 17, 1949, passed away Oct. 6, 1995.
Frances leaves two daughters, Donna Lawrence Oros and Joette M. Robert Brocious, both of Austintown; three granddaughters, Lori Fred Oros Schaffer, Susan Steve Oros Shapiro and Karen Chip Oros Smithwick; and seven great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and her husband, Frances was preceded in death by five sisters, Doris Bartsch, Ruth Hewitt, Alice Thompson, Betty Xeros, and Avanelle McBride; and two brothers, Harold and Lawrence Farr.
The family will be receiving friends Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. and Monday from 10 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
The family requests that material tributes take the form of donations to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 120 Wall St. New York, NY 10005-4001.
