POLAND-Services will be Thursday at 6:00 PM at Holy Family Church for Francis J. Eddy age 80 of Poland who died suddenly Monday afternoon at his home of an apparent heart attack. Francis was born July 1, 1923, in Youngstown, the son of Francis J. and Helen Sweeney Eddy. A 1941 graduate of East High School, he served in the U.S. Navy during W.W.II where he participated in the Berlin Air Lift. He retired from the Navy as a Staff Sergeant after 20 years of service. He later worked for San Diego County in California as its custodian supervisor. After retiring he returned to this area in 1984. He was a member of Holy Family Church, and the Fleet Reserve.
He is survived by his wife the former Ruth Montella Falconi whom he married April 20, 1974, Three daughters, Judith Falconi Joseph Magielski of Boardman, Nancy Falconi George Sinchak of Austintown, and Mary Rose Falconi James Zirkel of San Francisco, Cal., two sons Joseph R. Falconi Jr., Shaker Heights, and David J. Falconi of Hubbard, two sisters, Ann Mel Broom of Palm Bay, Fla., and Mary Gillon of Willowick, Oh., nine grandchildren, Ann, Stanley Melissa, and Joseph Magielski Jr., Laurie, Gregory, and Lynne Sinchak, Joseph Falconi III, and Katie, and Gregory Zirkel.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call from 4:30 PM to 5:45 PM Thursday evening before services at Holy Family Church.
Following his Funeral Mass Francis's body will be donated to the Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine at his request.
