"Together Again"
CANFIELD - Prayers will be held on Friday at 10:15 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Michael Church for Frank H. Griffiths, 86, who passed away early Monday morning at Shepherd of the Valley Poland surrounded by his family.
Frank was born Sept. 3, 1929, in Youngstown, a son of the late Frank R. and Louise Hoffman (Smith) Griffiths.
Frank attended Ursuline High School, Kent State and Youngstown State University.
He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.
Frank was employed by GMAC in Youngstown and Erie, Pa. for 36 years as a manager, retiring in 1990.
He was a charter member and past president of the Boardman Lion's Club, a board member for Applewood Swim Club, and a member of the Marine Corps League. Frank also volunteered his time at Help Hotline. He was a tax prep volunteer with AARP and was a consumer credit counselor in Youngstown. In his free time, Frank loved attending his grandchildren's activities.
His wife, the former Rose Marie Smith, whom he married Oct. 19, 1954, passed away Jan. 20, 2014.
Frank is survived by his daughter, Nancy (Greg) Zaitzew of Boardman; two sons, Frank S. (Nancy) Griffiths of Northville, Mich. and Alan T. (Kimberly) Griffiths of Columbus; seven grandchildren, Frank E. and Brian Griffiths, Joe, David and Casey Zaitzew, Leah and A. Rui Griffiths; a sister, Mary Louise Bretz of Canton; a brother, Richard (Alma) Griffiths of Gainsville, Fla.; a brother-in-law, Pete "Ted" Smith of Youngstown; his companion, Dolly Vivalo of Canfield; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Frank was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Richard Bretz and sister-in-law Violet Smith.
Family and friends may call Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
