STRUTHERS - A prayer service will be held Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel, and a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Christ Our Savior Parish (formerly St. Nicholas Church) in Struthers, for Frank P. Macinga, 75, who died Friday morning at Hospice of the Valley Hospice House surrounded by his family.
He was born May 10, 1937, in Youngstown, a son of John and Katherina Kollar Macinga.
Frank was a 1955 graduate of Chaney High School, was in the U.S. Army Reserves and was a member of the church.
Retiring from Youngstown Sheet and Tube, LTV Steel, after 37 years as a ladler, Frank went to work at several businesses including Mr. Anthony's, Frattaroli's Sparkles, Struthers and Klacik Realtors.
He loved to fish, but his greatest joy was his family and his grandchildren who meant the world to him.
Frank leaves his wife of nearly 51 years, the former Charmaine Menosky of Poland; his daughter, Catherine (Todd) Baldau of Harpers Ferry, W.Va.; four sons, Paul Macinga of Struthers, George (Bonnie) Macinga of Struthers, Robert (Lisa) Macinga of North Lima and David (Pamela) Macinga of Stow; nine grandchildren, Michael and Amanda Macinga, Daniel and Michelle Macinga, Kira and Sarah Baldau, and Jacob, Jack and Joshua Macinga.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother John G. Macinga.
Memorial contributions in his name may be made to the Hope Center for Cancer Care, 835 Southwestern Run Road, Youngstown, OH 44514, or the American Cancer Society.
Friends may call on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
