YOUNGSTOWN - Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the Heritage Presbyterian Church for Frank W. Pifer, 93 who died Wednesday morning.
Frank was born March 15, 1918, in Youngstown, the son of Lemont and Margaret Hively Pifer.
He had worked as an electrical foreman for Ohio Edison before retiring in 1983, He had served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He had served in the South Pacific as a member of a B-25 Bomber crew. Mr. Pifer later served as Post Commander of the Disabled American Veterans, Poland Chapter. He was a member of the former Brownlee Woods Presbyterian Church, where he served as a trustee. He was currently a member of the Heritage Presbyterian Church.
His wife, the former Dorothy Van Cise, whom he married Oct. 15, 1948, died Aug., 24, 2008.
He is survived by his son, Frank R. Pifer of Canfield; two grandsons, Eric and Kevin Pifer, both of Columbus; two sisters, Avalyn Lind of Poland and Carol Kane of Austintown; and a son-in-law, Mark Kozlowski of Pittsford, N.Y.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Kozlowski; two brothers, Myron Pifer, who was killed while serving in World War II and Lemont Pifer.
Friends may call today from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel.
