CANFIELD- Services will be Tuesday evening at 6:00 PM at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Canfield for Frank F. Pugliese age 85 who passed away Saturday morning at Assumption Village after a 9 month battle with Non Hotchkins Lymphoma.
Frank was born May 22, 1921 in Youngstown, the son of George and Josephine Darpini Pugliese.
After graduating from East High School in 1939, Frank later served our country during W.W.II in the US Army. While serving in the 46th Field Artillery Battalion under the command of General George Patton, Frank served in Rhineland, Northern France, and Normandy. He was awarded four bronze stars for his meritorious service. Proud of his service to our country Frank was life member of the Society of the 5th Infantry Division. Mr. Pugliese worked as a slitter/operator at Cold Metal Products for over 30 years before retiring. Remembered for his zest to live life to the fullest, Frank moved to Florida for almost 20 years to enjoy his retirement. He loved listening and dancing to music, and teaching himself he become proficient on the computer, which led to a new pass time, playing cards on the Internet with his friends.
Frank left a wonderful legacy for his family, that everyone who knew him loved him.
He leaves to cherish his memory his three daughters, Denise Richard Ellis of Boardman, Cindy Charles Stark of Midlothian, TX, and Bonnie Bob Wallis of Boardman, two sisters, Katherine Beck of Boardman, and Pauline Summers of Hubbard, two granddaughters, Dr. Nicole Thomas Zackasee Wallis, and Dena Caleb Nickell Wallis, a great-grandson Caleb Jacob Nickell, his lady friend, Evelyn Menaldi of Austintown, and his lifelong best friend, Joseph "FUDDABUCH" Ferranti of Florida who never missed a day calling in nine months to see how his friend was doing during his illness.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his bride the former Helen DeNiro whom he married June 1, 1946, and who passed away October 17, 1985.
He was also preceded in death by a brother Joseph Pugliese.
Mr. Pugliese's family would like express many thanks to the direct caregivers, housekeeping, dietary, volunteers, and support staff of Assumption Village for their gentle care and respect for Frank during his stay, and also to the direct caregivers and volunteers at Hospice of the Valley.
The family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to the Beatitude House 287 Lora Ave. Youngstown, Ohio 44504.
Friends may call Tuesday evening at St. Michael's Church from 4:30 PM to 5:45 PM.
