AUSTINTOWN - Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel for Frank Tufaro, 72, who died Tuesday afternoon at his home after a long and courageous over 15 year battle with cancer.
Frank was born Francesco Antonio Tufaro in Italy on June 30, 1939, the son of James and Filomena Lanza Tufaro. At the age of eight, he and his mother arrived on the S.S. Marine Shark in New York on Oct. 29, 1947.
He was a graduate of Niles McKinley High School and a member of St. Joseph Church. He had worked as a meat cutter and later as an assembler at G.M. Lordstown before retiring.
He enjoyed trips to the casino and playing cards, but most of all watching his grandsons play sports and compete racing cars on the dirt track.
He is survived by his wife, the former Rose Orlando, whom he married May 16, 1966; three daughters, Dolores Tufaro of Columbus, Lorraine Jeff Heafke of Austintown and Julie Tufaro of Austintown; two sisters, Rosalie Tufaro and Eleanore McCarthy, both of Austintown; three grandsons, Jeffrey and Matthew Heafke and Jacob Franks; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Friday at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel.
