AUSTINTOWN ? A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Monday at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, and prayers offered at 11 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel for Franziska Kerekes Silvers, 81, who passed away Thursday evening at her residence with her family by her side.
Franziska was born Aug. 9, 1929, in Grosviecht, Germany to the late Alois and Sophie Schmalzl Dengler. She immigrated to the United States in 1956 settling in Youngstown.
Franziska was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. She loved to dance in her youth, later in life she enjoyed traveling and spending time with her friends and family.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Bela Kerekes, whom she married in Germany in 1951 and her second husband, John D. Silvers whom she married in 1968. She was also preceded in death by several sisters that resided in Germany.
She is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law, Evelyn Larry Takach of Austintown, Margaret Tim Geiger of California, and Lisa Chuck Keleman of Niles; two sons, Bela S. Kerekes Jr. of California and Robert Kerekes of Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, Kelly, Tom, Michelle, Susan, Jill, Carmella and Gina; five great-grandchildren; and her life long friend Helen Gentile.
Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
