YOUNGSTOWN - Prayers will be held Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. at St. Brendan Church for Fred J. Capogreco, 61, who passed away Friday morning at his home.
Fred was born May 17, 1950, in Youngstown, a son of the late Dominic and Mary Lodwick
Fred graduated from The Rayen School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was employed with the Local No. 125 Laborers Union and retired in 1991. He was a member of St. Brendan Church, where he was a member of their Altar and Rosary Society, a Eucharistic minister and the keeper of the brass. He was also a founding member of the Stewardship Committee and member of Homebound Ministry at Omni Manor.
Fred leaves his wife and best friend, the former Mary Saunders, whom he married June 6, 1995; two daughters, Vanessa Terry Price of Hubbard and Christine Roddy of Denver; four sons, Justin Capogreco of Jacksonville, Fla., Tim Cheryl Roddy of Struthers, Mike Chrissy Roddy of Hubbard and Bob Roddy of Struthers; 10 grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Missy Roddy of Struthers.
Fred was also preceded in death by four sisters and a brother.
Family and friends may call on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
