AUSTINTOWN - Prayers will begin Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church in Austintown, for Fred Ciarniello, who passed away Nov. 7, 2011, at University Hospital.
He was born June 17, 1930, in Youngstown, a son of Ferdinando and Anna Mastrodonato Ciarniello.
Fred worked as a meat cutter at Holowach's Sparkle Market for 30 years and the last 11 years at Austintown Local Schools as a custodian.
He was a charter member of St. Joseph Church in Austintown, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and Usher. Fred was also an active member of the Bagnolesi Men's Club, St. Joseph's Men's Club, Korean War Veterans Post No. 137, and the Knights of Columbus No. 13977.
He completed his military service in the Army from 1953 to 1955.
Fred leaves his wife of 54 years, Mary Ragazzine; sister Virginia Pallotta; three daughters, Anna Joseph Marshall, Mary Jo Norris and Christina David Rohrbaugh; two sons, Fred Annie Dohar and Patrick Angie Cramer; five grandchildren, Harold, Megan and Justina Norris, Danielle Frabutt and Joseph Ciarniello; and two step grandchildren, Danny and Bob Marshall. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dominic Ciarniello; and four sisters, Mary Ann Potesta, Angeline Salata, Anna DiGiacomo and Florence DiGiacomo.
