AUSTINTOWN - Gary L. Johnson, 65, passed away on Sunday, May 20, 2018, surrounded by his family after a brief battle with cancer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Hulda Johnson; his wife, Cindy; and his sister, Gayle Caras and husband Jon.
Left to cherish his memory are his four sons, Harold L. and wife Kim of Austintown, David E. and fiancé June Kerr of Boardman, Gary L. and wife Heather of Austintown and Adam J. "AJ" and wife Cassie of Austintown; grandchildren Alexis, Xander, Skylar and Leo; and great-grandson, Atlas. He leaves a brother, Craig Johnson and wife Cathy of Shreveport, La.; and sister Hope Chance and husband Jeff of Canfield,
He also leaves brother-in-law Douglas Helton and wife Brenda of Cincinnati; numerous nieces and nephews, Christine Fodale and husband Jerry, Cheri Reddy and husband Sri, Chad Johnson and wife Kimbi and Carey Tribuzio and husband Mario of Shreveport, Nicholas Graham of Florida, goddaughter and niece, Tiffani Chance of Canfield, Jennifer Jones and husband Zack of Cincinnati, and Jessica Caras of Cincinnati; and great-nieces and great-nephews, Sam and Craig Fodale of Shreveport, Christopher, Katie, Lexi and Phillip DeLuca of Michigan, Wyatt, Walker, Whit and Westin Johnson, and Mario (Sonny), Gino, Giulia and Gianni Tribuzio, of Shreveport.
Gary was born Aug. 14, 1952, in Youngstown, where he was the second of four children. He loved his family and was very proud of his sons and grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing with his life long best friend, Tim Jugenheimer.
Honoring Gary as pallbearers will be sons Harold Johnson, David Johnson, Gary Johnson, Adam Johnson; his nephew, Nickolas Graham; and brother-in-law Jeff Chance.
A celebration of his life will be held at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel on Friday, May 25, 2018, at 12:30 p.m. Officiating will be his brother, the Rev. Craig Johnson.
Calling hours are Thursday evening, May 24, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday afternoon, May 25, from noon to 12:30 p.m.
