STRUTHERS - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Holy Family Church for Gary P. Ravotti, 63, who died Monday afternoon at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.
Gary was born June 18, 1950, in Youngstown, to Patrick and Concetta (Pallante) Ravotti.
He was a 1968 graduate of Chaney High School and a graduate of ATES Technical School. He worked for General Fire Proofing and Gasser Chair as a Design Engineer.
Gary achieved the award of Eagle Scout in February of 1965 from Troop 14. He was a scuba diving instructor, who assisted police and rescue teams on several occasions. Gary was happiest on or in the water and was an avid Cleveland Indians fan.
Gary is survived by his mother, Concetta Ravotti; two sisters, Jolynn (Jim) Mullally and Patty (Jim) Culcasi; five children, Gina (Charles) Gunning, Phillip Ravotti, Christopher (Michelle) Ravotti, and Daniel Ravotti; and his companion, Charlotte Torr and her children, Lisa, Wendy, Jennifer and Bobby.
Gary was preceded in death by his father.
Family and friends may call Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to the Shepherd Center Foundation, earmarked for the Gary Ravotti Scholarship, 2020 Peachtree Road NW, Atlanta, GA 30309. The Shepherd Center specializes in Spinal cord injury and traumatic brain injury rehabilitation and research.
Professional arrangements are being handled by the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel.
