STRUTHERS - Prayers will be held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at the Holy Family Church in Poland, for George Michael Gallagher Sr., 59, who died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Feb. 6, 1953, in Youngstown, the son of the late Harold and Katherine Maker Gallagher.
After graduating from Ursuline High School in 1972, he attended the New Castle School of Trades and became a certified welder. He worked at Ohio Structures in Berlin Center, Cardinal Pump and Exchange in Salem, and Waste Management in Youngstown.
He was an avid fisherman, loved to travel, shoot pool and play Texas Hold-Em Poker. He was also a huge fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Ohio State Buckeye football teams.
He will be missed dearly by his wife, Deborah A. Miller Gallagher, whom he married Oct. 3, 1998.
He leaves a daughter, Melissa Charles McCudden of Struthers; and a stepson, Michael Mrosko of Youngstown. He also leaves his sisters, Loretta Joyce O'Driscoll and JoAnn Kovall of Cape Coral, Fla., and Margaret Paul Beveridge of Houston; a brother, Harold Patricia Gallagher of Boardman; godson, Shawn Anne Marie Gallagher of Mogadore; and many nieces and nephews.
He also leaves his father and mother-in-law, Walter and Shirley Miller of Youngstown; brother-in-law Walter Georgine Miller of Austintown; sister-in-law Cathy Rex Glasgow of Pataskala; and brother-in-law Fredrick Miller of Pataskala.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Phyllis Ferreri; and his mother-in-law, JoAnn Bachani.
Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
