Youngstown-Services will be Monday at 9:30 AM at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel, and at 10:00 Am at Holy Name of Jesus Church for George D. LaPresta age 57 of Fernwood Ave. who passed away Thursday afternoon at his home surrounded by family after a two year battle with cancer. George was born November 22, 1946, in Youngstown, the son of Andrew L. and Elizabeth Ann Fenisey LaPresta. He attended Austintown Fitch High School, and then served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He had worked as a security guard at St. Elizabeth Hospital, and as an EMT for Gold Cross Ambulance. He then served as a deputy for the Mahoning County Sheriffs Dept., and as an officer for the Coitsville, and Lowellville Police Departments, during this time he also worked at EASCO Aluminum. He later served as the Chief of Security at the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center until the time of his illness.
He was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Church, the F.O.P., V.F.W., and the John J. Buckley Post of the Catholic war Veterans Post # 1292. He enjoyed playing guitar, painting, sketching, painting ceramics, and was an avid golfer and bowler.
He is survived by his wife the former Betty Ann Cifra whom he married May 25, 1968, a daughter Lisa M. Richard LaPresta-Sedoris of Youngstown, a son Kevin Carly LaPresta of Akron, three sisters, Patricia Julio Perez, and Andrea James Spencer both of Austintown, and Karen Patrick Tobin of Boardman, three brothers Donald J. Jackie LaPresta of Newton Falls, Timothy M. LaPresta of Hornlake, Miss., and Richard D. LaPresta of Cottageville, S.C., and two granddaughters, Angelia, and Alyssa LaPresta. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son David G. LaPresta.
