YOUNGSTOWN...There will be private services for George J. Roseman, 83, who passed away Thursday evening.
He was born Nov. 4, 1921 in McDonald, the son of Nicholas and Katherine Rezek Roseman.
Mr. Roseman was a heater on the 7 Mill with U.S. Steel for more than 39 years, retiring in 1978. He served in the CCC camps as a teen in Leviston, Mont. He served his country during WWII with the U.S. Marine Corps from 1942 to 1945. He fought in the battles of Bougainville, Guam and Iwo Jima and also had duty at Washington, D.C., as a ceremonial guard at the close of WWII. He enjoyed fishing and stock car racing.
He leaves his wife, the former Marilyn ³Marie² Binion whom he married Oct. 31, 1977; his daughter, Cheryl Scherl of Poland; two sons, Richard of
Austintown and Charles of Niles; three grandchildren, Nicole Scherl and Amy Scherl, both of Columbus, and Darrin Roseman of Austintown; three stepgrandchildren, Joann M. Henning of Warren, David W. Binion of Houston and James W. Binion of Warren; and a brother, Michael J. Roseman of Poland.
He was preceded in death by two infant children; four sisters, Mary Bushman, Ann Doratich, Barbara Umeck and Minnie Novak; and three brothers, Edward,
Frank and John Roseman.
Arrangements are being handled by Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel.
