AUSTINTOWN - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church for George A. Semeraro, 86, who passed away
Saturday evening, Oct. 11, 2008 at North Side Unit Hospital, after a brief illness. He was surrounded by his loving family.
George was born July 31, 1922 in Niles, the son of Sylvester and Carmela Belardo Semeraro.
He attended Niles McKinley High School. He served in the 3 C¹s and was a Military Policeman during WWII. George retired from Allied Metals Commercial Shearing in Niles. George was
an accomplished dancer, belonging to Idora Ballroom Dancers. George and his wife retired to Palm Coast, and Daytona Beach, Fla., in Jan. of 1982. There they continued their love for dancing. They belonged to several dance clubs. They danced in groups for schools, festivals, nursing homes, and Disney World. They enjoyed 20 yeras in Florida, and moved back to Youngstown
to be with family six years ago. While in Florida, they belonged to Mother Seton Church in Palm Coast and Our Lady of Hope in Daytona Beach.
George leaves his loving wife of 55 years, the former Helen Louise Kachurek
Rogers, whom he married Oct. 10, 1953; his daughters, Gayle Rogers Ferraro
and Joyce Rogers Semeraro; his grandchildren, Paul Semeraro of Columbus,
Richard Semeraro of Richmond, Va., John Tonya Semeraro of Columbus,
Michael Semeraro of Richmond, Va., Lisa Semeraro of Columbus, Bob Jen
Semeraro of Mars, Pa., Bill Semeraro of Columbus, James Sara Semeraro of
Columbus, Helena Semeraro of Seattle, Wash., Marci Semeraro of Columbus, Thomas Semeraro of Columbus, Melanie Semeraro of Columbus, Mary Pat and Teresa Semeraro of Westerville, Gia Ferraro Voitus of Poland, David Nicole Ferraro of Youngstown; and his great-grandchildren, Jordan Voitus, Danielle Voitus and Michael Voitus, all of Poland, Rocco Ferraro and Gianna Ferraro of Youngstown, and Sara Lee Semeraro of Westerville.
George was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Rose Grinta; five brothers, Jack, Anthony, Frank, Edward and Daniel; and one grandson, Joseph X. Semeraro.
Friends may call Tuesday, one hour prior to the mass at the church, from 10 to 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, material tributes may take the form of donation to Immaculate Heart of Mary Church Building Fund.
Arrangements are being handled by Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown
Chapel.
