POLAND - George A. Ulicny, 87, passed away early Thursday morning at Sunrise Assisted Living.
George was born April 11, 1924, in Youngstown, a son of the late John and Sophie Fecko Ulicny.
George was a 1946 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. He served in the 82nd Airborne in France, Germany and England. George was a sub-station superintendent for Ohio Edison and retired in 1986. He was a member of the Saxon Club and the St. George Lodge Croatian Fraternal Union of America. He was also an avid golfer and bowler.
George leaves his wife, the former Sally Gustafson, whom he married Nov. 1, 1947; two sons, Dr. Gary Jane Ulicny of Georgia and Darryl Ulicny of Vienna; six grandchildren, Wendy Joe Battle, Lauren Sam Hammond, Natalie, Graham, Reid and Craig Ulicny; and three great-grandchildren, Jesse, Melanie, and Angela.
George was also preceded in death by a son, George R. Ulicny; five sisters; and four brothers.
George's wishes were to be cremated, there will be no calling hours.
There will be a memorial service at a later date.
