BOARDMAN - Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2010, at the Grace Lutheran Church, in Austintown for Mr. Gerald "Jerry" W. Soich, 66, of Boardman who died Saturday morning, at Hospice House surrounded by his family.
Gerald was born Sept. 12, 1944, in Youngstown, to the late Walter and Betty Davis Soich.
Jerry graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and earned his Bachelors Degree from Youngstown State University in 1968. He received his Masters in Education from Westminster College.
Jerry taught in the Youngstown School system for 33 years, retiring in 2000. He taught at Covington Elementary, Mary Haddow Elementary, Adams Junior High School and Volney Rogers Junior High School. He was active in Home Instruction for many years. Jerry coached Football at Woodrow Wilson High School in the 1970s and later coached football and track at Volney Rogers Junior High before his retirement.
Jerry was a member of Youngstown Basketball Officials Association and enjoyed refereeing Basketball and Volleyball games.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his two brothers, David Richard and Walter Stephen Soich.
He is survived by his wife, the former Donna Peck, whom he married Aug. 7, 1965; two daughters, Andrea Renee Menosky and her husband, Christopher Menosky of Boardman and Audra Alane Donatelli and her husband, Dr. Shawn Donatelli of Lowellville; five grandchildren, Peyton, Addison, Logan, Christiana and Reeve; and several nieces and good friends.
Friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel.
Friends may also call Wednesday morning one hour prior to services from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
