CANFIELD - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Basilica of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, with the Rev. Monsignor Michael J. Cariglio Jr. officiating, for Geraldine Ann “Gerri” D’Amico, 73, who passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday morning.
Gerri was born Oct. 2, 1944, in Salem, a daughter of the late Patsy and Rose (Monteleone) Nocera.
Gerri was a 1962 graduate of The Rayen School. She received a Bachelor of Education Degree from Youngstown State University.
Gerri taught at St. Dominic School and then pursued her career in the real estate business. She became a realtor and together with her husband established Fred C. D’Amico Realtors. Gerri was an appraiser for the Mahoning County Sherriff’s Office and was a member of the Boardman Rotary.
She was known for her love of music and her beautiful voice. Gerri sang professionally and she loved entertaining. She brought people together and was the glue to hold them. She knew everyone and they knew her.
Her husband, Fred C. D’Amico, whom she married Nov. 21, 1970, passed away Nov. 26, 1994.
Gerri was a beloved mother, sister and grandmother. She leaves to cherish her memory, her three children, Lorraine Maria D’Amico, Fred (Katelynn) D’Amico, and Joseph D’Amico; grandchildren, Lucia Angelina and Nathan D'Amico; three sisters, Carol (Bob) Edwards, Linda (Chuck) Hunter, and Nancy (Steve) Cheredar; and many family members she loved and four granddogs.
Family and friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel.
