YOUNGSTOWN - Funeral services will be held Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, for Gerda Thomas, 94, who died Wednesday afternoon at Vista Care Nursing Home.
Gerda was born Feb. 20, 1923, in Youngstown, the daughter of Herman and Helen (Seremack) Baker.
She was a devoted homemaker, who dedicated her life caring for her husband and children. In her spare time, Gerda enjoyed playing Bingo, making ceramics, and baking.
Gerda is survived by her daughter, Patricia Waselich of Youngstown; daughter-in-law Naida Thomas of Boardman; brother Jack Baker of Ashtabula; three grandchildren, Sherri Bares, Christopher Thomas, and Nicole Ott; two great-grandchildren, McKenzie and Nicolas Ott; and her cat, Toby.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Joseph Thomas, who died in 1987; son Joseph Thomas Jr.; and sister Dora Antoniccio.
Family and friends may call Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to Angels for Animals, 4750 W. South Range Road, Canfield, OH 44406.
