STRUTHERS - Prayers will be held Thursday at 9:15 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at the Christ Our Savior at St. Nicholas Church, for Gertrude R. Garchar, 85, who passed away peacefully Monday at Masternick Memorial, with her family by her side.

Gertrude was born May 8, 1929, in Struthers, a daughter of the late John P. and Mary E. (Lynch) Kelly.

Gertrude graduated from Struthers High School. She was employed by Phar-Mor in the accounts payable department. Gertrude enjoyed playing bingo and was an avid Steelers and Notre Dame fan. Her greatest love was for her family. She always looked forward to Sundays and being all together with her family.

Her husband, Paul J. Garchar, whom she married Sept. 17, 1960, passed away Jan. 23, 1968.

Gertrude leaves her daughter, Rita (John) Zdelar of Struthers; her two sons, Paul (Gina) Garchar and Andrew (Tammy) Garchar, both of Struthers; 11 grandchildren, Mary Beth, John, Jennifer and Michelle Zdelar, Aubi (Phil) Nemeth, Larry, Paul III, Adrianna, Gianna, Andrew, and Rocco Garchar; three great-grandchildren, Aidan, Mason, and Brady; and her sister, Mary Kate Debelyak of Boardman.

Gertrude was also preceded in death her two brothers, Thomas B. and John Kelly.

Family and friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will take place at St. John's The Baptist Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, material tributes may take the form of donations in care of the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes.
