Glenn Allen

YOUNGSTOWN - Private services were held for Glenn R. Allen, 88, who passed away Saturday at Brookdale Senior Living in Austintown.

Glenn was born Dec. 19, 1927, in Youngstown, a son of the late Gerald and Mary (Barlet) Allen Glenn.

He was proud a U.S. Marine and served during World War II. He received a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Youngstown State University. He was a salesman/driver for Hostess Cake, formerly Continental Baking Company, for over 30 years, retiring in 1990.

Glenn enjoyed traveling, especially going to Myrtle Beach, S.C., and on cruises with his wife. He also had a love for music, especially big band and country. He was an avid fan of the Steelers and the Ohio State Buckeyes.

His wife, the former Marion Politsky, whom he married Aug. 27, 1955, passed away in 2006.

Glenn leaves his daughter, Sheryl (John) Ruby of Youngstown; a son, Ken R. (Linda) Allen of Sheffield Lake; two grandchildren, Jon (Renee) Ruby and Stacy Ruby; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Glenn was also preceded in death by 12 siblings.

Material tributes may take the form of donations to Hospice of Valley, 5190 Market St., Boardman, OH 44512.
