Glenn Phillips

CIRCLEVILLE - Glenn Phillips, 83, formerly of New Middletown, passed away Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017, at Mount Carmel East Hospital in Columbus.
Glenn was born Jan. 30, 1934, in Grand Rapids, Mich., a son of the late Glenn S. and Mary (Mead) Phillips.
Glenn was a 1952 graduate of Berlin High School in Marne, Mich. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1956, during the Korean War. Glenn was Life Member of American Legion Post 376 of Marne.
After his military service, Glenn used the GI Bill to be the first person in his immediate family to attend college. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from Western Michigan University.
In 2002, Glenn retired after 41 years as a Metallurgical Engineer and Sales Engineer. He worked for a number of engineering and industrial metal/wood-working companies during his long career, most notably Lear Siegler Inc. of Muskegon, Mich., and Oliver Machinery Co. of Grand Rapids, Mich.
Glenn was a former member of the New Middletown Lion's Club No. 5340. He enjoyed family road trips, camping, hunting, snow skiing, and watching his sons coach high school and college football.
His wife, the former Patricia J. Kowalczyk, whom he married April 30, 1961, passed away March 14, 2009.
Glenn leaves his four children, Jeffrey C. Phillips (Kari Hammer-Phillips) of Stoutsville, Robert G. Phillips (Paula Lindsay) of Medina, Thomas W. Phillips (Paula Romeo) of Pickerington and Douglas P. Phillips of Cincinnati; and five grandchildren, Lindsay Phillips, Kelsey Phillips, Eric Phillips, Paige Phillips and Jake Phillips.
Glenn was also preceded in death by two brothers, Gayle Phillips and Kenneth Phillips.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, Sept. 21, at 11 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel, 2726 Center Road.
Family and friends may call one hour prior, from 10 to 11 a.m., at the funeral home on Thursday.
Entombment will follow at Green Haven Memorial Gardens with Military Honors.
