YOUNGSTOWN - Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Pricetown United Methodist Church for Glennis M. Waller, 91, who passed away Friday evening at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center.
Glennis was born June 9, 1922, in Rutherford W.Va., a daughter of the late Donald Wesley and Blanche May (Hatcher) Garrett Sr. She lived most of her life in Lake Milton.
Glennis graduated from Struthers High School and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
She was a beautician for 70 years and a member of the Pricetown United Methodist Church for 65 years. Glennis was a member of the American Legion, where she served at past President, and the American Legion Auxillary Post 737. She was a Red Cross swimming instructor and a campfire girl leader. She also worked at the Board of Elections for 35 years. Glennis was very active at her church where she was a member of the missionary society and superintendent of Sunday school. She enjoyed bowling, crocheting, traveling and camping.
Her husband, George C. Waller, whom she married Sept. 21, 1970, passed away April 25, 1984.
Glennis leaves her two daughters, Janice M. Lloyd of Austintown and Jeanne E. Callow of Pittsburgh; three grandchildren, Shawnna, Robyn, and Melanie; six great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy (Edson) Rider of Pittsburgh; and many nieces and nephews.
Glennis was also preceded in death by a sister, Florence M. Stoddard; and a brother, Donald Wesley Garrett Jr.
Family and friends may call Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Pricetown United Methodist Church.
Professional arrangements are being handled by the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel.
