POLAND Prayers will begin at 9:15 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Boardman-Canfield Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Christine's Church in Youngstown, for Mrs. Gloria Burke, 78, formerly of Lucerne Lane in Boardman, who died Monday morning at the Hospice House.
Gloria was born July 11, 1930 in McDonald, a daughter of Alex and Ann Drabiska Guran.
She was a 1948 graduate of Niles McKinley, a member of St. Christine Church and was a former coordinator for the Youngstown Area Irish step dancers.
Gloria leaves her husband, William Burke, whom she married Aug. 30, 1952; two daughters, Kathy Marty Potnick of Stateline, Nev. and Nancy Mike Feist of Cincinnati; three sons, Tom Sue Burke of Perrysburgh, Daniel Ann Burke of New Orleans and Patrick Dawn Burke of Poland; 16 grandchildren, Jennifer Thomas, Scott, Katie and Tessa Burke, Kaitlin and Alex Potnick, Bryan and Sean Burke, Luke, Maria, Daniel and Simon Feist, Ryan and Nicholas Tara and Cameron Burke; two great-grandchildren, Carson and Alivia Thomas.Gloria was loved by all her children as the greatest Mom and was proud to be called Gramma by her grandchildren who adored her as much as she loved them. Many of her favorite memories were those involving her grandkids who always brought smiles to her face.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Frank Guran who died just hours before her in Arizona
Friends may call today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
