AUSTINTOWN — Gloria M. Dobrindt, 93, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, Sunday, May 5, 2024.
Gloria was born April 6, 1931, in Youngstown, the daughter of Joseph and Antonetta DeLuce Duva.
Gloria married Donald E. Dobrindt on April 8, 1988. She embraced a very special relationship with his four children, then became a very loving and proud grandmother and great-grandmother. Gloria enjoyed attending all of their academic and athletic activities. She always wanted to keep the family together, celebrating many holidays, maintaining family traditions and sharing her recipes.
Gloria was a 1949 East High School graduate and furthered her education at Youngstown College. She was employed in the accounting department at Standard Slag and Metal Carbides. After retirement, she wasn’t afraid to embrace new skills and was exceptionally adept at mastering computer technology for over 30 years. She helped many others navigate through their technology difficulties. She enjoyed texting, talking and sharing pictures with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren, on her iPhone.
Gloria was an active member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, its Altar and Rosary Society and Senior Citizens Club with her many friends, where she found joy in contributing to her church and community. Gloria and her husband were very active members of The Youngstown Saxon Club, involved with many groups, bocce and celebrating special functions there.
Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, who passed away March 16, 2004; her parents; son-in-law, Chris Fening; brother-in-law, Gerard T. Dobrindt; sister-in-law, Dorothy Dobrindt; and mother- and father-in-law, Julia and Harry T. Dobrindt.
Gloria totally embraced her family and will be fondly remembered by Elizabeth Fening, Catherine (Mark) Hurkamp, Anita Carroll, Donald (fiancee Nicole Sutter) Dobrindt; her grandchildren, who affectionately referred to her as Grandma Glory, Dr. Erin (Dr. Phil) Brown, attorney Patrick (Nicole) Fening, Dr. Kelly (Brian Moore) Fening, Lea (Alex Huber) Carroll, Anny Carroll, Alexa Hurkamp, Maxx (Roxy) Hurkamp, Miles Hurkamp; great-grandchildren, Cameron and Mason Brown, Ava and Maximus Fening, Ellie and Crew Hurkamp; cousins and many loving friends.
Calling hours will be held on 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 4490 Norquest Blvd., Austintown, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m.
Gloria’s warm presence and kind-hearted spirit will be deeply missed by all those whose lives she touched. May she rest in peace knowing that the love she shared continues to live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
