Gloria Stocks

YOUNGSTOWN - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10 a.m., at St. Columba Cathedral, officiated by the Rev. Msgr. Peter M. Polando, for Mrs. Gloria C. Stocks, 89, who died Sunday afternoon at her home.

Mrs. Stocks was born on Sept. 10, 1926, in Buffalo, N.Y., daughter of Anthony and Florence (Dombrowski) Kwiatkowki.

Gloria was a homemaker, caring for her family for many years. She was a devote Catholic, a longtime member of St. Christine Church, and later became a faithful member at St. Columba Cathedral. She loved to play bridge, sew, and most importantly, spend time with her family.

Gloria was a member of a sewing circle and a gourmet club, associated with Youngstown State University faculty. She also tutored for Youngstown City Schools and volunteered at SMART.

Gloria leaves her husband of 59 years, Mr. Anthony H. Stocks, whom she married on Sept. 1, 1956. She also leaves her son, Anthony G. Stocks and daughter-in-law Jane Speyer, both of Portland, Ore.; sister Christine (Harold) Boutwell of Erie, Pa.; two grandchildren, Clarissa and Charlotte Speyer-Stocks; and two nephews and one niece.

Besides her parents, Gloria was preceded in death by her son, Gregory G. Stocks.

The family will receive friends on Friday morning from 9 to 9:50 a.m. at the church.

Entombment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery, Austintown.
