BOARDMAN - Gordon Helle, 81, died Saturday at the home of his son after a lengthy illness.
Gordon was born Sept. 29, 1930, in Youngstown, the son of Letha and Elmer Helle.
He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1949. He later graduated from Youngstown State University in 1964. He was a Korean War veteran serving in the Army's 2th Division 34th Infantry Regiment. He had served as the Secretary Treasurer of Heltzel Company in Warren for 23 years, retiring in 1990.
He was a member of Sulgrave and Poland Masonic Lodge since 1955, was a former member the Youngstown Area Association of Credit Management and the Youngstown Chapter of the National Association of Accounts.
Gordon enjoyed boating, vintage cars and target shooting.
He is survived by his wife, the former Mildred M. Watson, whom he married April 28, 1952; a son, Eric; daughter Lynn; and three grandchildren, Jordan, Jesse and Riley.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gene Helle.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening with services beginning at 8 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel.
