CANFIELD - On Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012, at 2:33 p.m. our mother, Grace Bernice Moore McNulty DePaul, 88, crossed over into eternal life with our Lord Jesus Christ from her last residence of Ohltown Road's Humility House.
Grace was born in Ashtabula Sept. 27, 1923, and was raised by her grandparents, Alvin and Corie Hawes.
She was a graduate 1941 graduate of Conneaut High School, and later served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II in Camp Pendleton, Calif.
In October 1946, she was married to Thomas Edward McNulty, from which she gave birth to their four children, Patricia Robert Williams, Thomas Karen McNulty, James Star McNulty and Mary Ed Durkin.
Grace was the grandmother of nine grandchildren, Jeffery, Maxine, Annie, Lucy, Brian, Colleen, Adam, Jason and Christina and nine great-grandchildren, Ashley, Britney, Kaleigh, Kellin, Ethan, Ryan, Maya, Gabrielle and Ashlynne.
She had worked at W.T. Grants in Boardman and Sharon/Erie, Pa. and later retired from National City Bank in 1986, after working at its Parma and Columbiana locations.
After her retirement, she continued to work part time at Compensations Programs Inc. of Austintown into her early 70s.
Grace was an avid reader and excelled in crafts. She was blessed with an expertise for needlepoint which inspired her two daughters to proceed with their passion for quilting.
Overall her greatest joy in life, a near second to when her first grandson, Jeffery was born 1971, occurred a few months later when her eldest son, Thomas returned home unexpectedly from Vietnam and called her to ask if she could pick him up at Cleveland/Hopkins Airport.
Grace also shared her love for others, among more than 70 nieces and nephews.
She was been preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas McNulty and her second husband, Louie DePaul; her two sisters, Ellenette and Glena and their brother, Elmer; and all of her in-laws.
As Grace said "I was the first one in and I'll be the last one out."
Also preceding her death with reverent regret, her granddaughter, Maxine G. Heasley, in 2004.
