AUSTINTOWN-Services will be Tuesday evening at 7:00 PM at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel for Harold F. "Mickey" Thomas age 73 formerly
of N. Kimberly in Austintown who died Thursday afternoon at St. Elizabeth Health Center. Mickey was born August 25, 1930, in Youngstown, the son of Harold
Edgar and Frances Boomhower Thomas. He had worked as a railroad engineer for
the Youngstown Sheet and Tube Corporation for 29 years, retiring in 1984. He later worked as a resident maintenance manager at the Applegate Apartments in
Lordstown and the Fernwood Apartments in Newton Falls, retiring in 1994. He was a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam Wars, serving in the Marine
Corps from 1947 to 1953, and in the Naval Reserve, as a Sea Bee from 1969 to 1978. He was a member of the William Farr Lodge # 672 of the Free & Accepted Masons where he was Worshipful Master from October 1977 to October 1978. He had also been a member of the St. Johns Commandery of the York Rite in Niles, the Scottish Rite, Valley of Youngstown, and the Aut Mori Grotto. He had also been a
member and past Commander of VFW Post # 9278. He is survived by two daughters Nadine Charles Mazur of Columbia, Pa., and Michelle Thomas Craig of Canfield, a son Kim A. Thomas of Oldsmar, Fla.,
three grandsons Joseph Mazur, and Matthew and David Craig, three granddaughters Sarah Mazur, Jessica Thomas, and Danielle Motter, and a great-grand-daughter, Camryn Motter.
He was preceded in death by his wife the former Nana Blanche Robinson whom he married April 15, 1961, his parents, and stepfather Nathan Croasmun who raised him, a sister Mary Louise Thomas Boomhower, and a brother Ira Thomas. Friends may call from 4 PM to the time of services at 7 PM Tuesday at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel.
