AUSTINTOWN ? Prayers will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel followed by funeral services at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary?s Byzantine Church for Harold Turjanica, 86, who passed away Monday at Select Specialty Hospital.
Harold was born Sept. 20, 1922 in Uniontown, Pa., the son of the late Charles and Mary Hayjurik Turtanica.
Harold was a 1940 graduate of North Union High School in Uniontown. He was a veteran serving in the Navy during World War II. During the Korean War, he was a member of the National Guard. Harold loved to help people whenever he could. He retired in 1987 from Hynes Steel with over 40 years of service as a steel slitter.
Harold leaves his wife, the former Elizabeth Bartos, whom he married June 16, 1956; a daughter, Mary Ann Turjanica of Austintown; and a son, Charles Anthony Turjanica of Austintown.
Harold was preceded in death by four sisters, Pauline, Betty, Margaret, and Barbara; and a brother, Mike.
The family will be receiving friends Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
